Toller Family History

According to the Protestation Return of 1641 for Churchstanton, Somerset in the Hundred of Hemyock, there were at least three Tollers then living in the village: Thomas Toller, senior, Thomas Toller, junior and William Toller. Unfortunately it is difficult to prove a direct connection with THOMAS and ALICE TOLLER, also of Churchstanton. She was buried at Churchstanton on 1 Aug 1703 and he was buried at Churchstanton on 17 Dec 1721 having had issue:

JOHN TOLLER of Upottery, near Honiton, Devon, Churchwarden of Upottery 1708-09, bapt 30 Apr 1675 at Churchstanton, m. 10 Jan 1700/01 at Sampford Arundel, Somerset, THOMAZIN WEEKS. He was buried at Upottery on 29 Jul 1715 (Exeter will proved 1715 but destroyed during the bombing of Exeter in 1942) and she was buried at Upottery on 2 Nov 1743 having had issue:

According to The Times: ‘The kind of death he always desired was by a kind Providence granted him: he was found a lifeless corpse within three minutes after he left his sitting-room as well as usual.’ He d. 26 Feb 1821 (P.C.C. will dated 22 Feb 1819 and proved 14 Jun 1821) and she d. 25 Nov 1870, aged 92, at Kettering having had further issue:
